Measurement & Instrumentation Technician
to be based in Lubbock, Texas or Estherville, Iowa.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install and troubleshoot measurement devices and systems in wind turbines and other industrial equipment.
- Understand and install measurement devices and systems (i.e. sensors, electrical cabinets etc.) for wind turbine prototype testing and certification measurements (i.e. loads, power performance, acoustic vibrations).
- Troubleshoot measurement devices and systems and their connections.
- Build measurement systems for installation in wind turbines and other industrial equipment.
- Create, read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and complex test procedures.
- Prepare and conduct experiments for wind turbine prototype testing and certification measurements (i.e. loads, power performance, acoustic vibrations).
- Set up measurement chains.
- Perform extensive research and development for components needed for tailor-made measurement system setups.
- Research construction costs for measurement systems and specify materials.
- Build and assemble measurement systems to include calibration, inspection, maintenance of equipment.
- Quality Management and Performance Improvement
- Create and implement processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems and troubleshoot when needed.
- Write procedures and technical documents.
- Documentation and data management
- Conduct acceptance tests/commissioning and evaluate test results with accuracy and precision.
- Maintain laboratory and project inventory.
- Support Engineering team during measurement execution

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high-school training) in wind energy, engineering or electrical technology with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
OR
- In the absence of an AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
**candidates with skilled electrical background will be given preference - Competency in engineering fundamentals such as physics (i.e. understanding of forces/power/vibration, temperature/wind force etc.) math (i.e. algebra, geometry/trigonometry) and electronics (i.e. what is current/voltage/electromagnetic disturbance, understanding electrical circuits, Ohm’s law, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in field measurements
- Industrial communication knowledge (i.e. CAN bus, Modbus)
- High-voltage switching certificate
- Strain gauge sensor installation skills
- Experience in measurement system monitoring

- Proficiency with hands-on work

- Technical skills – wiring, soldering, drilling, sawing, filing metal, etc.
- Attention to detail and organization
- Ability to trouble-shoot and think outside the box
- Ability to adhere to demanding deadlines when necessary
- Self-motivated and goal orientated to complete jobs with accuracy independently as a member of a high-performing team
- Intercultural competency (working together with international team)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical to safely perform job functions & meet physical demands of the position
- Ability to travel (occasionally)
- Possession of valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable under our auto insurance policy
